Sergeant Wilkinson and his wife recently received keys to their long anticipated handicapped access van. Sergeant Wilkinson had received injuries while serving in Iraq which rendered him unable to walk. Upon returning home to the states, the new challenge of coping with his disability was overwhelming enough, not to mention the stress the family endured trying to find a specialty van on a lower enlisted serviceman's pay. It was no doubt an answered prayer when Homefront San Diego received an already fitted handicapped van from a generous donor. North County Warrior Support conducted a safety check and Homefront San Diego volunteer Dick Ries was there to present the keys to the family along with a $50 gas card.
Homefront San Diego is able to provide vehicles to military families in need because of the generous San Diego community who gives them. Homefront San Diego thanks you from the bottom of our hearts! Homefront San Diego also cannot forget to thank the wonderful North County Warrior Support auto repair vendors who make sure all donated vehicles are in safe running condition before going to a military family in need. If you'd like to make a difference and donate a vehicle, please see our vehicle donation guidelines here. Remember, your vehicle donation qualifies for a full blue book value deduction!

This past holiday season, Homefront San Diego had a little angel of our own. Like many other charities, Homefront San Diego has been feeling the pinch of the predicted gloom and doom of the economy. As a result, Homefront San Diego was faced with having to do significantly less for our military families for the holiday season; and what worst time to do less when what they really need is more! Not only did The Nice Guys come through to help us close the gap to be able to match what we provided last year (in way of food and gift cards for children's presents), but they more than overwhelmed us when they blessed us with $96,000. This allowed us to no not only match our efforts of last year, but to double the amount given to each family. We cannot thank them enough! Thank you to a wonderful organization, we are forever indebted to you!

College Avenue Baptist Church hosted a concert to benefit HOMEFRONT SAN DIEGO. The orchestra is conducted by Judith Thomas and is unique in that the string section is made up of five family members the youngest is 10 and the oldest is 20. There was 20 minutes of music by the Brass Ensemble made up of five marines. Their talent is amazing.
The money collected has been over $2,700.00. They plan to hold more events like this again in the near future.
