Introduction
The following provides the title and description of volunteer position held within the Homefront San Diego (HFSD) organization. If you are interested in volunteering, please read these descriptions to determine if there are openings and to find the position that best fits your interest. All of the proceeds given to HFSD are used to support our military families' needs. We do not have overhead expenses and none of our volunteers are paid for their time or expenses.

The Roger Hedgecock's Show of KOGO AM 600 radio is the sponsor for HFSD. The lead HFSD KOGO Volunteer is Jimmy Valentine. This volunteer provides general guidance and assists the President with organizational direction, goals, outreach, and communication.

The President is the Lead Volunteer responsible for coordinating the overall operations of HFSD by determining the types of services offered, ensuring the proper training of other volunteers, reviewing and assigning all cases in the database, providing direction to the Lead Volunteer Coordinators, identifying and approving the addition of Coordinators, and making requests for expenditure of funds to the Director. The President is also responsible to ensure proper communications with the Coordinators and all volunteers. This position provides the face of the organization, is the primary voice for the KOGO HFSD Updates, handles various outreach activities, and serves as the primary contact with the San Diego Navy League.
Abilities & Time Required: Internet access, simple internet knowledge and a phone line with the ability to make long distance calls, if needed. This is a very important and busy position. The time requirement can vary widely due to the number of requests being made at any given time as well as the questions coming in from other volunteers. Expect to spend a minimum of 1 - 3 hours per day and more as circumstances warrant.

The Vice President assists the President in the overall operations, training, and outreach efforts. This volunteer also serves as backup to the President in providing general guidance/direction to the Coordinators, reviewing intake in the database, and handling the KOGO HFSD updates.
Abilities & Time Required: Internet access, basic internet, computer and typing skills and a phone line with the ability to make long distance calls, if needed. The time requirement varies based on overall activity of the organization. Expect to spend a minimum of 1 - 3 hours per day and more as circumstances warrant.

This volunteer will serve as the primary point of contact for all communications through the HFSD volunteer organization. Such activities include, but are not limited to; (1) taking minutes of the Board Meetings to capture decisions and actions items, (2) providing regular updates to all volunteers in the organization of calendar of events, projects and other pertinent news, and (3) maintaining the volunteer lists and other HFSD documentation.
Abilities & Time Required: Internet access, simple internet knowledge and a phone line with the ability to make long distance calls, if needed. The time requirement varies based on the number of overall donations and request being made at any given time. Expect to spend a minimum of 1 - 3 hours per day and more as circumstances warrant.

Lead Coordinator of Volunteers Read More... Close Listing
The Lead Coordinator Volunteers serves as the primary point of contact for any volunteers in their area. In some cases these positions are handled by only one person. However, it is important that all Coordinators have backup volunteers to handle their areas when they are unable. Therefore, a backup volunteer has been identified for each Coordinator position below. Others may be identified by the Coordinator as deemed appropriate. The general responsibilities of all Coordinators are: (1) to report regularly at Board meetings on their activities, issues, concerns, and recommendations, (2) be the primary trainer for new volunteers assigned to them, and (3) keep the President and Vice President apprised of any news that is eligible for an HFSD Update. (Note: other volunteers, as deemed appropriate by the Board, can be asked to attend Board Meetings).
